Current Work:

Literacy Instructor:

The Reading Foundation                                                                                                          (2007-present)

At this literacy clinic, I teach specially designed programs for students (elementary to adult) who have difficulty reading and writing. I also administer and interpret tests to determine student progress and individual learning weaknesses. Particular attention is given to evaluating writing samples and teaching a writing program that addresses both remedial and advanced student needs. I have also been part of a team that redesigned the curriculum for the clinic’s Discover Writing Program, and I work as a replacement team leader at times during the year.

Volunteer Experience:

Board Member:

The Single Onion Poetry Reading Series                                                                           (2007-Present)

I lead the planning of monthly literary events, which contribute to Calgary’s vibrant cultural community, by acting as a contact for visiting artists, building partnerships with venues to expand our audience, and administering schedules, as well as developing updates for the organizational website and assisting with the budget, publicity management, and grant writing.
